today

this morning, i found this little poem that i wrote this while traveling in the southwest spring of last year
this poem is dedicated to the beautiful night starry skies of the southwest desert

Today
a new day emerges
the sun rises in the horizon
with the promise of
a new beginning.
new experiences unfolding
a little deeper in the heart
expressing my true self
more fully
more alive
more me.

me as a child of the earth
me, inseparable from what
appears to be distinct from myself,
me as an extension of you.

acknowledging that
you are creating me
and i am creating you

mutually inclusive is our creative power
mutually existing
mutually dreaming
                             of better days of no destruction
                                                                              of humans and the whole of nature
for when i harm a human
i harm myself
and i harm the whole of nature

for when i harm apart of nature
i harm myself
and i harm the whole of nature

please i ask you
let's stop
let's surrender
let's uncover the unknown
let's create a new reality
a euphoric harmony for ll life to dance to
i would rather be happy than for the world to stay stagnant
i would rather be happy than keep doing what feels safe
i would rather see your dreams fulfilled than see you trapped by fear

we can only taste
what is possible
when we soar
above the impossible

take my hand
i'll take your hand
let's close our eyes
let's open our hearts
savor what it means to be fully alive
